Stop wasting a dedicated test pile. With Bidirectional Static Load Testing (BDSLT), we install a YJACK cell directly into your working pile — test it, grout it, and put it straight into permanent service. No reaction system. No kentledge. Separate skin friction and end-bearing data.

Bidirectional Static Load Testing is a method of internally loading a pile from within — delivering more information, faster, at lower total cost than any conventional approach.
A hydraulic jack assembly (YJACK cell) is installed within the pile's reinforcement cage before concreting. The cell sits at a calculated depth — typically near the pile toe or at the boundary between friction zones. Telltale rods and strain gauges are installed at this stage. Once concrete is poured and cured, the cell is completely encased within the pile.
Hydraulic pressure is applied from the surface through flexible hoses. As pressure builds, the cell expands simultaneously upward against shaft friction above the cell, and downward against end bearing and lower shaft friction below. The soil and rock system provides all reaction — no external apparatus required at the surface.
Displacement transducers measure pile movement at the surface. Telltale rods measure movement at cell level. Vibrating wire strain gauges embedded along the pile record load distribution at multiple depths. All data is captured in real-time by a digital data acquisition system and processed into load-movement curves and unit resistance values.
After the test, the void created by the expanded cell is pressure-grouted, restoring structural continuity of the pile. The pile is then certified for full service load — contributing to the permanent foundation. Telltale rods and surface instrumentation are recovered and reused on the next project. Nothing is wasted.
YJACK cells are engineered and manufactured by YJACK Technology, Malaysia (Mr. Geotech) — one of fewer than ten companies worldwide that manufacture complete BDSLT systems. Piletech India is the authorised technology partner for India, supplying YJACK cells and providing full technical support, installation, testing, and reporting services across all Indian states.
On a large infrastructure project, a dedicated test pile and reaction system can cost ₹20–50 lakhs — and contribute nothing to the permanent structure. BDSLT eliminates this entirely.
One full pile sacrificed purely for testing — complete cost of concrete, steel, and installation contributes zero to the structure
Kentledge weights, anchor piles, or reaction frames add weeks of setup and significant mobilisation cost
Test load limited by structural capacity of the reaction frame — difficult and expensive to test very high-capacity piles
Result is a single combined figure — skin friction and end bearing cannot be separated for design optimisation
Heavy equipment, cranes, and large apparatus demand clear site access — impractical in confined or restricted sites
Cell installed in any selected working pile — after test and grouting, the pile enters permanent structural service
Soil and rock provide all reaction. Mobilisation takes days — surface footprint is a pump unit and a laptop
Multiple YJACK cells can be stacked at one level or placed at multiple depths — no structural ceiling on test load
Bidirectional loading isolates each resistance component — optimise pile length and diameter with precision
Bridges, over-water, basements, confined urban sites, low-headroom — BDSLT works where conventional methods cannot
Typical saving per project on dedicated test pile elimination alone. On projects with multiple test locations, savings compound significantly.
A streamlined process built for busy project teams. All site coordination with your piling contractor is handled by us.
Fill the quote form with pile type, dimensions, test load, and project location. No back-and-forth — our structured intake gets everything in one shot.
Our engineer reviews and issues a detailed technical and commercial proposal — cell configuration, instrumentation scope, mobilisation cost, and timeline — all in one document.
YJACK cell assembly, telltale rods, and strain gauges installed in the reinforcement cage before concreting. We coordinate directly with your piling team.
Test conducted once pile concrete reaches design strength. Hydraulic load applied in increments with real-time data acquisition monitoring all instrumentation throughout.
Cell void is pressure-grouted restoring full pile integrity. Full test report with load-movement curves, unit resistance values, equivalent top-down analysis, and design recommendations.
BDSLT is not just for large projects — it is optimal across a wide range of pile sizes, project types, and site conditions.
When design loads are high and conventional reaction systems would be prohibitively expensive — BDSLT tests to any capacity with stacked cells, with no structural ceiling.
Basements, urban plots, metro underground works, low-headroom conditions — BDSLT requires only a surface pump and instrumentation box. Nothing more.
Jetties, river bridges, coastal infrastructure — where installing a reaction frame over water is impractical or dangerous, BDSLT is the only feasible static test method.
Urban towers need large-diameter bored piles under congested sites. BDSLT validates foundation design without the space or disruption of kentledge arrangements.
Concessionaires owning assets for 25–30 years benefit most. BDSLT on working piles creates a verified foundation record — peace of mind for the entire concession period.
When programme cannot accommodate weeks of reaction pile installation — BDSLT mobilises in days. Cell installation is part of normal cage fabrication, no schedule impact.
